Upcoming Dinner Program

80 Years of Central San

Have you known any out-houses in the San Ramon Valley? Have you heard tales of a time before indoor plumbing? Are there still septic tanks out there?

This summer the Central Contra Costa Sanitary District (“Central San”) will celebrate its 80th Anniversary! Ben Lavender, Community Affairs Representative for Central Contra Costa Sanitary District, will share its history and development from its start to meet pressing needs of a population expanding beyond a rural community into the state of the art operation now serving our local homes and businesses. Initially planned to serve a population of 15,000, the pace of growth quickly exceeded expectations and Central San has kept growing to keep capacity ahead of demand. With expansions and improved technologies, nearly half a million residents are now served within its 146 square mile service area. Join us on Thursday March 19th and learn of features you may pass often but never notice that keep the indoor plumbing we now enjoy flowing smoothly!
